 INT. CARL'S BASEMENT - EVENING
 ==============================

Vera and Carl are as before: Carl sitting tied to a metal stool, Vera
sitting on a chair in front of him.

 > VERA
 >> Okay, let's say I believe you. Either you're truthsome, or a really
 >> good liar. If it wasn't you, who was it?

Vera moves behind Carl and takes out her Leatherman, and cuts Carl's
bindings. Carl gets up and stretches, then sits back down, clearly more
 relaxed.

 > CARL
 >> They used your account, and that gives us a clue. Only five people
 >> have access to that box at all, and two of them are in Europe.

 > VERA
 >> Are you saying Alan did it? That's crazy.

 > CARL
 >> It's logical.

 > VERA
 >> But why would he do it? He's the most patriotic man I know. There's
 >> no way he'd set up a terrorist attack.

 > CARL
 >> I don't know why, but there's no alternative. When you have
 >> eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must
 >> be the truth.

 > VERA
 >> There's no point in accusing him without proof.

 > CARL
 >> Yes, that's correct. It would be wrong to do so.

Vera gives Carl with a weird, disbelieving look, then shakes her head.

 > VERA
 >> We're going to have to figure out exactly what happened. We need the
 >> malicious code that was injected into the boxes and the only place to
 >> get that is at the office.

 > CARL
 >> What do you mean?

 > VERA
 >> We're going to have to break in and steal it.

 > CARL
 >> But... that's against the rules.

 > VERA
 >> Some day, you're going to tell me how you became such a stickler for
 >> following every rule, but today, you're going to break a few.
