1 EXT. A PARK - DAY 2 ================= 3 4 Vera sits in a park, against the base of a statue, in a lotus position, 5 with her laptop on her knees. She is dressed like a student sitting in 6 the park doing homework (whatever that looks like, liw needs help here, 7 Julie!). 8 9 It is a sunny day, and she has trouble seeing the screen. Eventually she 10 looks around, sees an abandoned newspaper, and gets up to fetch it. She 11 takes out a roll of gaffer's tape from her bag, and uses it to create a 12 U-formed contraption from the newspaper to put around her screen, to 13 shield it from sunshine. 14 15 She sits back down on the ground, as before. Now she can see much 16 better. She stares at the screen for a few seconds at a time, then types 17 space once or twice, and stares again. This goes on for a while. 18 19 > VERA 20 >
(Silently, to herself.) 21 >> Come on, Alan, talk to me. I need to disassemble this code right now. 22 >> Don't hold out on me. 23 24 The reading and space bar hitting continues. Some people walk past her. 25 Vera looks up, sees that they're harmless, and gets back to reading her 26 screen. 27 28 > VERA 29 >> No, that's not it. What the heck are you doing, Alan? 30 31 After a little while, a couple of nerdy guys stop at her, and whisper 32 something to each other. They're dressed in jeans and have t-shirts with 33 big and boring computer company logos. 34 35 > NERD ONE 36 >> Hey, lady, cool Linux sticker. Is that your boyfriend's laptop? 37 38 > VERA 39 >
(Looks up, annoyed.) 40 >> What do you mean? 41 42 > NERD TWO 43 >> You look so puzzled, we figured there might be something about your 44 >> computer you don't understand. We can help. 45 46 > VERA 47 >> Go away and get a life. You cretins wouldn't understand disassembly 48 >> if it offered you a blowjob. 49 50 The guys look offended and continue their way. Vera looks back at her 51 screen, and pulls on her lower lip with her fingers. 52 53 > VERA 54 >
(Silently, to herself, smiling crookedly.) 55 >> Oh! So that's what you're doing. Yeah, that makes sense, if you're 56 >> incompetent and evil. Oh Alan, I thought better of you. 57 58 Vera leans back against the statue, puts her hands behind the back of 59 her head, and stares at the sky, thinking deep thoughts.
