1 # The Imminent Threat 2 3 [Redacted] 4 5 - **Choose 2 desires**: Communicate with the Hilts, cleanse the planet, usher in the end of times, reflect the faults of humanity back at them, gorge on despair, offer hope 6 - **Pick up when**... Someone wants to foreshadow the Imminent Threat’s actions, a far away threat is witnessed or the operational phase starts. 7 - **Trade away when**... People are more scared than before or the operational phase ends. 8 9 ## Moves 10 11 - Strike hard, fast and unexpected. 12 - Change the landscape. 13 - Elude fixation, change shape. 14 - Overwhelm senses and sensors. 15 - Try and fail to communicate. 16 - Evade defenses with ease. 17 18 After every move, ask "**What do you do?**" 19 20 # The Clock 21 The Imminent Threat Clock is a circled divided into four even sections that “tick” at specific, mechanical triggers during gameplay. Any time a player: 22 23 - Gains a token when they have none or 24 - Gains a token from strain, 25 26 Fill in one segment of the circle. Once all four segments have been ticked, the game immediately shifts into the operational phase; interrupt the scene as the Hilts are suddenly called to mount their Blades and the city is put into lockdown. Players should trade away most setting elements (they can always be picked back up) and begin to narrate the attack on the city by the Imminent Threat. 27 28 The clock is only ticked during the interpersonal phase. In the operational phase, the players will untick it; once cleared, the operational phase ends. 29 30 One way to set the scene is to name one feature of the Imminent Threat and then trade this element to another player, who will do the same. 31 32 The Imminent Threat should be played fast and hard, putting the Hilts into tough positions. Feel free to trade away the Imminent Threat setting element as you’d like; changing narrators matches the mercurial nature of an Imminent Threat. 33 34 --- 35 36 This text is licensed under a [Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 4.0 International License](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/).
