Fight for Work, Bread, and Power! 13 14 The Red Flag is the Organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party in Switzerland (PCS-KPS) — the political party of the class-conscious wage-workers in Switzerland. 15 In 1919, inspired by the Great November Socialist Revolution and guided by Marxism-Leninism, and under the leadership of Comrade Jakob Herzog, a member of the Forderung (Demand) group (together with Comrade Leonie Kascher), the Communist Party of Switzerland was founded following the General Strike of 1918. 16 This was the completion of the process started by Comrade Johann Philipp Becker, the father of the Swiss labour movement, who had worked closely with Marx and Engels. 17 The Party waged a revolutionary struggle against capitalism and for council democracy in Switzerland in 1919-21. 18 In 1921, the Party was usurped by revisionists, who liquidated the workers' councils and tried to transform the Party into a parliamentary machine — the most famous of these revisionists was Jules-Humbert Droz. 19 In the 1930s, an intense struggle against this revisionism led to some advances, and, when the Party was banned in 1939 and went underground, the membership only grew, and some Party members organized armed resistance to the fascist Swiss government and other Axis Powers at that time. 20 In 1944, the Party was liquidated by the revisionists who founded the Labour Party. This was the result of four years of struggle to this end, particularly against the dogmato-revisionist Geronimoite trend in the international Communist movement. 128 129 With the refounding of the PCS-KPS, its process of reconstitution was launched. This is a process of struggle to identify, reclaim, and further develop the Red Line in the Party's history, mainly embodied in the person of Comrade Jakob Herzog, so as to recreate the Party's ideological basis of unity (its Guiding Thought), reestablish its political basis of unity (its constitution, line, and policies), and rebuild its organizational structure, which was liquidated by revisionism in the 1940s. 130 131 The Red Flag was launched in the spring of 2021 to serve as the organ of the Communists fighting for the reconstitution of the Party.
